Yuxi Zhan

My name is Yuxi Zhan, and I am originally from China. I moved to the United States to pursue my passion for art, culture and history. Now, I am studying Gallery and Museum Studies at Queensborough Community College (QCC). Before coming to QCC, I studied a different field related to aviation safety and technology management in China. While this experience offered me valuable skills in problem-solving and management, I realized that my true passion lies in the cultural sector, particularly in the transmission of cultural heritage, history and curating.

I am currently interning at the QCC Art Gallery. During my internship, I have been responsible for handling archives, digitizing materials for long-term storage, and assisting with exhibition preparations and handling exhibits. These experiences have provided me with valuable insights into gallery operations, exhibition planning, and the preservation of artworks.

In the future, I am eager to continue working in the cultural sector, particularly in museum curation and cultural heritage transmission. I aim to promote diversity and preserve cultural heritage through innovative programs and educational activities. After completing my studies at QCC, I plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree and gain more experience to prepare for a career in the museum field and cultural preservation.
