Dr. Faustino Quintanilla

Dr. Faustino Quintanilla has served as the Executive Director of the QCC Art Gallery since 1991. Through his vision, the gallery has acquired a reputation for ambitious and innovative programming that is diverse and inclusive. He is responsible for establishing an endowment for annual programming and paid internships and spearheaded the acquisition of a permanent collection. He also created the gallery imprint: QCC Art Gallery Press, in conjunction with exhibitions and related topics. The New York Times has made note of the gallery’s ambitious programming of African art.
Born in Leon, Spain, Dr. Quintanilla received bachelor’s degrees in philosophy from the Monastery of Santa Maria (Burgos); in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University Lateranense (Rome); and in Liberal Arts from Wagner College, New York. Additionally, he received a Master of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute, New York, and his Doctorate in Divinity from Ignatius University, Indianapolis.
As an accomplished artist, Dr. Quintanilla currently holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor in Drawing at the College of Staten Island, CUNY. His artwork is in collections and exhibitions nationally and internationally. Dr. Quintaiila has received many awards and honors and has been invited to speak at the United Nations.
Dr. Quintanilla currently sits on the Academic Senate’s Publications Committee and the Continuing Education Advisory Committee of QCC.
