On his return to Ecuador and enriched by his constant research, his legacy was recognized with the most prestigious cultural recognition of the country: Eugenio Espejo Award.

His constructivist art incorporates representations of symbols present in pre-Columbian ancestral cultures, such as the Valdivia, which constitutes one of his main sources of inspiration and a fundamental pillar in his creative legacy.

Maldonado is characterized by deepening the volume and space, with a new language of innovation. The painter brings an international projection of art.
